Nithish Kumar: The One Man Show
In the past few days when the general election 2009 was going on you must have seen a lot of fuss was going on the name of Nitish kumar but as a layman if you are not too much involved in the study of Indian politics have you ever pondered over that why suddenly there was a huge number of arguments were made on Nitish Kumar the contemporary chief minister of Bihar.
In the last three weeks you must have noticed that two of the major parties of India, congress and Bhartiya Janata party (BJP) were trying to attract him with many lucrative offers and favorable comments passed in appreciation of him. But I want to tell you there are different types of people in this country one who wants the ministerial powers irrespective of which party governs from the centre and the best example is Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan and there are some who are loyal to their allies like Nitish, he several time cleared the confusion of his alliance with BJP. He very clearly commented that he would never go with congress and in Bihar he has alliance with BJP and he would continue to support BJP in future also. But congress party members never left hope for giving him offers. Be it Manmaohan Singh or Rahul Gandhi they never left the chance to attract him.
And it was really shame for some of the media house who alleged that Nitish kumar is ready to support the government who would give Bihar special status if they come to power. This media house includes Deccan Herald and other. I had heard the comments passed by him on electronic media he told that he has nothing to take with the government he just wanted Bihar as a special state status.
Now I would like to point out why this was all about Mr. Nitish and not anyone else. First of all I would like to point out that it was due to the president rule in Bihar that a fair state election held in Bihar and and Nitish broke the consistent 15 years rule of RJD, the party led by Lalu Prasad Yadav. And then Bihar witnessed the development works of Nitish Kumar the imposition of ideas of him into practice. I am going to tell you all this because I have watched his administration very closely and felt and analyzed the difference.
Following were the points on which I have pointed out why is a one man show, a reflection of a development personality. I am mentioning 10 reasons why Nitish Kumar is an One man show.
1. Road Construction:
Once in a comment Lalu had said that I would make the roads of mine state (Bihar) as smooth as the cheeks of Hema Malini but it never happened rather it got worse. The emergence of Nitish kumar had given a new hope for the citizens of Bihar, and they saw the fulfillment of them with their own eyes. In a short period of time he ordered for the construction of roads of Bihar and in a few months I saw the drastic change of the face of Patna, the capital of Bihar. In between he cancelled the tender of Tantia construction, an esteemed construction company of the state saying that the quality of construction of roads were compromised and I personally saw the construction of these roads the two layered broad roads which seemed to me very strong and that construction was alleged to be compromise in quality it signified that the great quality he was planning and the remarks passed out by him was ‘Hum Garzu nahi hain’ (we are not fully dependent on them) and the basic problem of Bihar was wiped out by him.
2. Concept of Janta Darbaar;
You might have seen Anil Kapoor establishing letter box for the complaints to CM but Nitish was one step ahead. He urged to meet the common people face to face and thus introduced the concept of ‘Mukyamantri ka Janata Darbar’ which was later changed to ‘Janata ke darbar mein Mukyamantri’. I have seen several times the telecast of this darbar in the local news channel where he eliminated the problems of majority of the people so quickly and he was accompanied with a team to do so that included the DGP of the state and other high officials.
3. His Education:
Unlike the leaders of RJD like Lalu and Rabri, he is well educated has done his engineering from NIT (National Institute of technology) Patna and he has engineering degree so a well educated personality suitable for doing development in any state.
4. His Council Ministers’ team;
I don’t know that it is known to all or not but it was a tradition of Bihar that some council ministers of the state government of Bihar used to have some ministers on which judiciary case was going on named as ‘dagi neta/ bahubali neta’ in Bihar.
But the first work that Nitish did when he came to power was that he did not include any such person in his cabinet ministry who were claimed for any judiciary case thus signifying that the state government has fair politicians.
5. The Sorrow of Bihar and its treatment;
Kosi river of Bihar is considered as the sorrow of Bihar as it does not have a fixed line of running. This lets to the emergence of floods several times in Bihar so did happen last year also. Lots of lives were gone due to this but Nitish with full effort tried his best to help them out. He tried to arrange all the facilities including food, shelter, medicines etc and again proved his duty toward the people.
6. Stretching the boundaries:
You might have heard about the successful chief minister of west Bengal who stretched his limitation boundary and wanted to be confined within that only same is the condition with Nitish Kumar. He has stretched his limitation boundary. I have heard a lot of interviews of Nitish Kumar, when he was asked if he wants to be the PM of India he replies very politely that he doesn’t think he is suitable for that. So he just wants to serve the nation as CM only I don’t know for how much time. But at least it is fine that whatever he is doing is best.
7. Secular Image:
The most prominent part is that he is secular by nature and choice as what one could expect foe a CM or PM. I have seen him several times celebrating Id with his Muslim friends and people. And hardly he has ever passed any communal speech and asked for votes during election campaign. His subject was only development and he assured that if development is being not witnessed by the state he would never come to seek votes from the people.
8. Invitation and encouragement to industrialists:
Other face of the Nitish led government was that he highly encouraged the entrepreneurs to establish their industry in their state and assured them on the security. He was seen many times with the industries persuading and encouraging them to establish their industries in Bihar.
9. IIT in Bihar :
When it was announced that government can build one Indian Institute of technology (IIT) in Bihar he generously gave 500 acres of land in Bihta (near Patna) for the establishment of the same.
10. The seen effect:
Now I would like to tell you the effect that I have felt overall and the major changes that are visible. Earlier there was a building named ‘Udyog Bavan’ near the historical Gabdhi Maidan in Bihar. Earlier it looked like an old government office very odd look and now if you see it will look like world trade centre wrapped from all sides with special element wall.
So the Outcome
So the outcome was clear it was predetermined by the different political party that Nitish has proved himself as a persona of development and the people of Bihar would give him majority of votes. So every one tried their best to attract him. Recently he was declared as the politician of the year by CNN-IBN public poll.
So this was all what I have watched and analyzed with this Nitish led government. I have a lots of hope with this government although oi know it is so difficult to trust any politician to such an extent that you predict that your every need of the state get fulfilled but it is said that umeed par duniay kayam hain, so hope is the only way, I can hope that Nitish will make Bihar a great place.
