Sunita Narain inspires me..

Sunita Narain is one among the very few people from India who is on a noble mission. The one who was chosen once as top 10 influential women of India. I really appreciate her mode of working. How she manages her institution center for science and Environment (CSE) at Delhi and also the bi-weekly magazine Down to Earth. From time to time we see her protesting on issues related to common people. She is among the one who believes in changing the world and does not blame others for the problem. The one who is a part of solution and not a part of problem.

I feel lucky that i have got the chance to interact with her twice till now. She is very encouraging and loves the people who wants to bring a change. Her mails to me were really inspiring. I think due to the noble cause of the CSE or the environmental magazine i prefer to do my next internship in the magazine to CNN-IBN or any other famous hyped media hoouse. I like the concept and execution by the people. Really want to be a part of the house.

Hope ma'm keeps doing all good work and come up from time to time with good points. All the best ma'm.

I am a great Singer

Surely initially reading these lines one may think that Mr.Manish is so proud of his singing talent but wait till the end of the story the story is entirely different from what it seems from the headlines. Actually through this post i would like to share one of my sweetest and funniest memories of my school life.
Actually i was in class four at the time in Varanasi based school and used to get thrilled by witnessing the students who used to sing group songs on the occasion of either republic day, Independence day or anything else. And even i also wanted to feel the same stardust and i never realized how bad i sing although till now i don't agree that i am a bad singer. So the real story goes like this.
One day in the prayer assembly our music teacher announced that who ever wants to participate in group singing could contact me. So i was so thrilled and predetermined to go for this wonderful opportunity and to prove the world that i am a good singer. So during the lunch time i went to meet our music teacher who was really an unpredictable man. I went and requested and expressed my desire to take part in that but he bombarded me with so many words because he didn't like that someone should disturb him during lunch time i was slightly depressed but my desire didnt die. Again after one hour i went to him and expressed again my desire but this time i was in group so it was normal meet and told me to wait and then he started taking test of vocal quality. he said to say something like ;Aaaaa' and after this the best thing
When my turn came i went and sung but he was not happy and seemed satisfied and told me that i could not sing as i dont have the quality of a good singer, at that time i was not depressed i thought i was not in a mood to sing well actually it was not me but the environment who was responsible for the rejection of mine talent. So again after one day i went to the man and expressed my desperate desire to sing on stage he was really impressed by me. And now can you predict what would have happened? I request the reader to predict the outcome before going ahead.
Ok you might have guessed the right outcome so actually then what happened ki he witnessing my great desire of performing me on stage gave me a chance but wait...... there were some conditions applied- i was not allowed to sing in the group i was supposed to stand only in the group moreover in the second row. And whenever the tune of the group song got out of tune during rehearsals he used to ask me if i was singing.
But it was not a same for me i was at least happy that i got the chance to broadcast myself in front of 3000 people that was the population of my school at that time and after performing on stage i was extremely happy.

My Trip to Kudlu Falls n Agumbe

It was really becoming very boring to stay at home during these study breaks. So I went for a tour to Kudlu falls 60Kms. from Manipal. I went along with seniors of 3rd year of our college that comprised 6 guys and 2 gals. But it was not as simple as it seems to be. Actually initially no one planned to go for the Kudlu Falls, initially it was planned that we would go to Someswer forest for a trekking and after walking for 2 hours it was expected that we would meet with a fall named as Abbe falls, it went entirely unexpected. With full enthusiasm all of the group members took bus for the forest which is near Agumbe ghats. We reached there and after taking coconut water and other essential things we went for the forest but almost after 30 minute some of the group members got frightened as the path to the fall was not known to anyone and it was very scary full of dry leaves and hardly any footmarks, it seemed that no one passed from these forest for a long time. And even a lot of paths were witnessed by the group which was really very confusing so finally what happened after almost 30 minutes of our commencement of the journey the group members decided to return back but I really did not want to return back but due to majority vote we returned back finally.


Plan to go to Kudlu Falls
After returning from the forest it was decided that we would go to Kudlu falls and thus for this a Maruti Omni was booked and we moved for the falls that no one earlier had seen. And from here our actual journey started. The path to the falls was really interesting and pleasant to human eyes full of natural beauty. But after reaching to our final designation we had to walk almost 2 Kms that too in altitude, 2 Kms in a mountain and we did but we were just going high and high but the final designation was not coming and we were losing hope if it would actually come or not but after a long period of struggle it finally came and then we really enjoyed a lot.

The Beauty of the fall
The fall was really very attractive the water of the fall was coming from the middle of two huge high mountains; it was my first time that I witnessed a fall. The water inside was very very cold but our whole toil that put for climbing the forest was recharged and there we really enjoyed to the maximum. After taking bath there and enjoying in the water we left the place and our other destination was Agumbe falls.

Sun Set Point Agumbe:
After moving out of the falls we went for Sun Set Point agumbe and that was I think the best place I have seen in my entire life. It was at a very high altitude; from there I could see the clouds below the mountains that usually look above the mountains in the sky. We were feeling as we were in the sky and the earth is below and there we took a lot of pics and enjoyed so many delicacies there. So this was all for our trip to these places.

Internet and New Media Assignment

When it was announced in the class that we have to do a story as a part of our first assignment I was really thrilled as I was getting the chance to act like a real journalist and have to submit the story and even the second striking thing was that we were told to write our feelings, way of action and all that related to the story on a blog that we were expected to create that I did not had, so it was my first step towards blogging.

The first thing that stricken the mind of everyone in the class including me was what story we should do. And I think everyone like me wanted to submit the best story and wanted to get the maximum marks as output.

I pondered over so many story ideas that used to come in mind but did not satisfy my thirst for the best. Once I pondered that last year I read so much about a newly introduced technology in India i.e. CLOUD SEEDING. I was amazed that can we have artificial rainfall with the help of certain chemicals, and I found it right. As I belonged to science stream in my intermediate studies, and I always found of these types of new things, I decided to go for that.

The next thing was what should be the approach to file a good story, which must need a proper approach. So I planned a blue print how to do that. That included

1. Collection of full info. Of the technique from Internet and newspaper
2. Talking to experts
3. Focus on India
4. General views of common people

So I went for the first step and searched on internet on this topic and came to know about the history, uses in India, success rate, merits and demerits and the chemicals or techniques used. It was really great to know on this alien technique to such a great extent.

Next thing was to get the views of the expert on the effects and future of cloud seeding. I had heard about Dr. Madyastha, Coordinator, Malacology Research, Western Ghats. So anyhow I got his phone number and asked to give me his valuable views and he humbly mailed me his views and advocated that it can’t take the place of nature.

Even I talked to Mr. Manoj Kumar, Associate professor, Biotechnology. Sikkim Manipal University. He also gave his views and emphasized on Environmental Impact.

Dr. Padmanabha Udupa, Professor, Department of Biochemistry also shared his views on the concerned views. But what I found among the common people that majority of the people were unaware of the technique.

Hope this technique will develop more and lastly I want to say that It was really a very good assignment and through this I learnt how to go for a story. For this I am really thankful to Raviraj sir.
